Architectural Metals

Premium copper and architectural metals selected for longevity, beauty, and historical authenticity.

Materials That Last Generations

New England Skylights works exclusively with premium architectural metals and domestic glass — the same quality materials used in the original construction of the historic buildings we restore. Copper, in particular, has been the material of choice for architectural skylights for centuries, and for good reason. We can also provide a wide range of historic glass options such as corrugated wire glass, allowing us to match the character, appearance, and period of each restoration.

Architectural Metals & Glass We Work With

Copper

The premier material for architectural skylights. Copper is naturally corrosion-resistant, develops a beautiful patina over time, and has a proven service life of well over many decades. We work with 16 oz., 20 oz., and 24 oz. cold-rolled copper.

Corrosion-resistant · Self-healing patina · 100+ year service life · Fully recyclable

Lead-Coated Copper

Copper sheet coated with a thin layer of lead, producing a uniform gray appearance that is often specified for historic preservation work where the original material was lead-coated copper. Offers the same longevity as bare copper.

Uniform gray appearance · Historic authenticity · Same longevity as copper · Widely specified for preservation

Zinc Coated Copper

A contemporary alternative to copper, zinc offers a distinctive matte gray appearance and excellent corrosion resistance. Increasingly specified for modern and contemporary projects.

Matte gray finish · Self-healing surface · Long service life · Contemporary aesthetic

Terne Coat Stainless

For applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance or a specific aesthetic, we work with architectural-grade stainless steel. Available in a range of finishes.

Maximum corrosion resistance · Multiple finish options · High strength

Glazing Options

We work with all standard architectural glazing systems, including single-slope, double-slope, and custom configurations. Glazing options include clear, tinted, low-e, laminated safety glass, and wire glass for historic applications. We coordinate with glazing contractors or can recommend trusted partners.
